Born in Winnipeg,Manitoba but spent most of his adult life in Ontario. Legendarycorrespondence player, organizer and promoter. Earnedconsiderable recognition in international competition, includingthe IM-ranking in correspondence play, as well as IA-ranking in correspondence play. In the 70’s and 80’s was very active in organizing chess activities in Canada. Gary was also a strong over the board master. Survived by his spouse, one of his two sons and his daughter. One of the last sane voices in Canadian chess. My condolences to his family. RIP
