Another cigar photo, but this time with a chess theme. Photographer unknown/ I tried via Google to find it, but without any clear result.

CHESS TACTICS ANYONE?

TRAPPER TRAPPED!

Montcada International  2016.7.3 im Vera Siguenas, Deivy(2492)im Oliva Castaneda, Kevel(2493). Position after 30 moves.  The last move was 30.Bh5!? Rg8-h8(?), completely overlooking White’s threat (30…Rg5! is unclear)

I am not sure what was going on in Black’s head, but he probably thought that White had simply overlooked his last move (if the Queen retreats then Black simply takes the Bishop)

Mate changes everything…

Montcada International  2016.7.3  gm Shyam, Sundar M(2526)–im Vera Siguenas, Deivy(2492). The last move was 34.Qc8+! Kg7.   A curious fight, typical I suppose for an Open tournament. Black was better for most of the early middlegame , but then he got careless.  Even so, what could possibly be wrong with Black’s game, right?
