Today’s chess quotation

Leo Tolstoy , September 9, 1828–November 20, 1910, is considered one of the greatest Russian writers.  Is there anyone over the age of 35 who has not read War and Peace or Anna Karenina?  Even if they have never read either book, surely they must have seen one of the numerous film-versions of these masterpieces…

Tolstoy was also a passionate chess amateur.  You might interesting find Winter’s take on Tolstoy HERE.  One of his most popular quotations about chess, from War and Peace, is here presented as a short video.
