New FIDE time controls

I am glad to see that the 90-min/whole game time regime has disappeared in official FIDE competition. It never made any sense to me NOT to have a time control at move 40, and Kirsan’s invention has lowered the quality or completely ruined tens of thousands, if not millions of games as a result.

So, clearly, I think the new regime is a step in the right direction…Now if someone can explain to me why the time control for the Women’s World Championship is shorter than that of the Men’s World Championship, then I would be a happy person…perhaps Nigel Short can shed some light!?
